This work with others, the counseling in all of its forms feeds my need to help others and to feel I’m making a positive difference in people’s lives. What it accomplishes varies based on the needs at the outset and that variety of care, support, counseling and exchange are aspects that make this work so satisfying.  It’s rewarding to come across people who remember me from some difficult time or situation in their past, and to hear “Hey, weren’t you the chaplain at Mission Hospital. Wow, your presence made such a difference.” For others?  I think they feel heard and cared about during the more complex and distressing times in life or during big transitions like a marriage.
